Latest health and social distancing advice from Prime Minister, Chief Medical Officer, and the Premier (following on from and in conjunction with established rules):
  • Stay at home unless absolutely necessary. There are only four reasons to leave your home: food and supplies, medical care, exercise, and work or education.
  • People MUST work from home where you can
  • Visits to your premises and having people over to your house must be kept to a minimum and only in very small numbers.
  • BBQs, house parties, or get-togethers with friends and family should not go ahead - states and territories will be looking at putting specific measures in place where such things may become a criminal offence. 
  • The government has restricted gatherings to no more than two people except for members of your immediate household and for work or education.
  • People should only be going outside to go to the essential things, not to get together in groups. 
  • Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms are closed.

If people breach these directions, they face on-the-spot fines of $1,652 for individuals and $9,913 for businesses. Larger fines can also be issued through the courts.

The national security taskforce will upgrade the 'do not travel' warning for overseas to a ban on overseas travel effective from midnight 25 March 2020.
